Best Blogging Buddies Award!!

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!
Thank you Annika for nominating me!!!

The Rules:
  • You must make a post to show your award on your main blog.
  • You must tag the person who nominated you in your post.
  • You must nominate all your best buddies, and those whom you want to be best buddies with, who, to your knowledge, have not been nominated for this award.
  • You must ask your buddies at least fifteen questions in your post.
  • You must answer all the questions your buddies ask you on this post.

THE QUESTIONS:
  1. Silver or gold? Why?
Oh, Silver. Gold is... I don't know. Brash, I guess. Silver is elegant. :)
  1. Action movie or romance?
Can I have one with both? Like a Legitimate Romance inside a movie with stellar action? Cause you never get both. XD
I guess Romance, in the end.
  1. Favorite super-hero?
Captain America. But I'm also obsessed with Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero Six, so.....
  1. Favorite character of all time? (Yours count).
Oh dear. I honestly don't think I could say one of mine, although I really love my TRC charries. (can Kei be real?) But choices are not my thing. So here's a list in no particular order. XD Katniss(The Hunger Games), Newt (Maze Runner), Kate Weatherall (Mysterious Benedict Society), and Percy Jackson(Lightning Thief.)
  1. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
You readers! I'm really enjoying developing this thing and my stories, and getting feed back from all of you. You guys have made my day, multiple times. XD
  1. What story has made the biggest impact on you? (Again, yours do count).
To be honest, I'm not really sure. But the Mysterious Benedict Society was a big deal for me a few years back. Kids who were different, pairing up to save the world from a criminal who propagates lies to unknowing television watchers?
 Yes, Please.
  1. What book/movie/tv show that you've read/watched was the biggest waste of time?
The Transformers movies are not worth it. With a filter they are shorter, but not short enough.
  1. Real book or ebook? Why?
Although I use ebooks more often because of convenience, real books are better in the end because they feel right. And they don't lose battery, leaving me stranded in the middle of the plot. XD
  1. What is the weirdest thing you've ever researched?
I may or may not have looked up how dangerous it is to take a blow to the temple. And where you could shoot someone, leaving them incapacitated but not dead.
And then what kind of accident/deformities would leave someone mute(brace yourselves, TRC-ers. I have a new baby coming.) But those aren't too strange really.
  1. Who are your writing/blogging role models?
I LOVE the Freckled Fox. She is amazing. Then of course, my friends all have awesome blogs too. (at the bottom of the page.)
  1. What character (any character) do you identify most with?
Can I say my own? I feel like Tessa Scott and me share one thing, I've always been a bit of a black sheep. But I've learned over time that that's not necessarily a bad thing. I don't want to blend in. I'm going to live the life God gave me to it's full potential and embrace the way He made me so I can glorify Him. :)
Now when someone calls me weird, It makes me happy.

  1. What fandom are you most obsessed with? (If there aren't any, don't be ashamed. You're more sane than us, if that is the case.)
OH DEAR ME DOCTOR WHO!!!!!

I mean... Fandoms?? Nah. I'm totally sane. *nervous laugh*
  1. Have you ever met one of your favorite authors in person? Tell me about it.
There will come a day when I have this honor. BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY. I have gotten to talk with a bunch of authors on the internet though. Like C.F. Barrows. There is no cooler thing than caps lock raging talking with the author as you make your way through their book.
  1. Here's a big question: Loki or Thor?
Thor.
(But Tom Hiddleston is awesome.)
  1. Have you ever been obsessed with something typically considered academic? Like astronomy, ancient history, psychology, mathematics, economics, physics . . .something along those lines?
I LOVE Genetics. I may not be like reading books about it, but I get giddy when it comes up in class. GIDDY.
Actually, my WIP takes genetics into play. :)

Okay, so fifteen questions for my Buddies.
*evil laugh*
1. When did you first start writing a book? (I started my first book when I was nine. It's hilarious.)
2. Who inspires you in real life?
3. Who inspires you in fiction/television?
4. Your favorite band/composer, and your favorite song from them?
5. Favorite Genre to read?
6. Sarcasm and wit or kindness and affection?
7. Favorite movie?
8. What was your favorite story as a kid?
9. Baymax(BH6) or Sven(Frozen)?
10. Who is you favorite character-- of your own? And why?
11. Best season of the year?
12. What hobbies do you have? (other than blogging)
13. What's your Myers Briggs Personality Type?
14. Describe a time you surprised yourself. (Did you write something you hadn't planned? maybe you did something you've always been scared of?)
15. What makes you more hyper, Caffeine or sugar?

And Who to nominate.... hmmmm.

Forgiveness over Revenge: a lesson from Big Hero Six

First of all, If you have not seen this movie I demand you go watch it. If you have to wait beware....this post contains some spoilers.

SHHH Spoilers!

I liked a lot of things about Big Hero Six. From the character development to the animation, this movie was stunning. But I want to focus on one theme of the movie that I found really interesting, not to mention unique for a superhero film.

The thing is, we're so used to the typical "hero" story: something bad happens to them, they find out who did it, and they get justice. Cue fireworks and some sort of romantic subplot.
But that's, frankly, unrealistic.

In real life, bad things happen, and we don't always see justice delivered. Don't get me wrong here: I believe in justice. I respect the law and do my best to uphold it. I believe that there are consequences for sin not only on earth, but eternally.

But the sad truth of it all is: getting justice doesn't take away the pain. If you think that getting back at your adversary is going to help you overcome what they did to you, then you are seeking revenge, not justice. And Revenge will only make things worse. Revenge will put you in the position of becoming just as bad as they are.

And this movie says all that. And more.

A Different Kind of Cinderella

So since I am taking an English class that requires me to write essays, I thought I'd share the more interesting ones with you! I enjoyed writing this one. :) We read five versions of Cinderella and had to pick one that we would read with a child and argue why we would choose it over the others. And while all of the Cinderella stories have value, one especially caught my eye. So here it is: my Cinderella story of choice and why you should read it, too.

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairytales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairytales.” Albert Einstein’s advice may seem far-fetched at first, but it is a belief held by many parents and experts. Reading to a child is an important formative and bonding experience for both the reader and the listener. Having made the decision to read to a child, however, a new question arises. What will you read? One of the best loved fairytales in history is that of Cinderella. There are many versions of “Cinderella” available to choose from, spanning from the Grimm Brother’s version to the Disney rendition. The version I would choose to read to my favorite child would be the Native American’s Cinderella story because it showcases inward beauty, the Cinderella character takes initiative, and it is a unique story that a child would otherwise never hear.

Just a Spoonful of Charcoal Helps the Inspiration Go Down!

I'm sorry for the Mary Poppins reference.
Actually, you know what? I'm not. XD

I have been trying to come up with an idea I'm happy with for part two of the Resistance Chronicles, but I'm stumped. So instead I decided to draw some Character Inspiration for Zayla!
Birds, especially her falcon, are going to be a reoccurring thing for her. I like to think they represent her new found freedom.

If you didn't guess from the title, it's done with charcoal. :)

I also did a Doctor Who drawing just because. It's not great, but it was fun :)

Thanks for reading!!

Parody of Baa Baa Black Sheep

I got an assignment to write a parody of a nursery, rhyme in school. How could I resist a Doctor Who parody?

Parody of Baa Baa Black Sheep

Knock, Knock, Doctor, have you any plan?
Yes, dear, Yes dear, just take my hand,
We run from the aliens and rescue your friends,
Save all the people from terrible ends,
Knock, Knock Doctor, have you any plan?
Yes, dear, Yes, dear, just take my hand.

Wake up Dalek, have you any hate?
Yes, puny human, EXTERMINATE!
Exterminate the Doctor and every other race,
Exterminate the people in every other place,
Wake up, Dalek, have you any hate?
Yes, puny human, EXTERMINATE!

Hey there Cyberman, have you any soul?
Affirmative, human, but not anymore.
It was taken from me, when I was upgraded,
Now I’m just a robot, and generally hated.
Hey there Cyberman, have you any soul?
Affirmative human, but not anymore.

Come along, Companion, do you want to see the world?
Yes, sir, Yes sir, the young lady twirled,
Take me to a planet that I’ve never seen,
Or show me a nebula, swirling and green.
Come along, Companion, do you want to see the world?
Yes, sir, yes Sir! The young lady twirled.

My Favorite Movie Soundtracks

I love movies.

Is that so bad? I love stories, I love special effects... but most of all I love the way music plays a part.
It's not that I prefer movies to reading. And I definitely agree that the book is always better than the movie, but in a movie you get a soaring soundtrack that carries you through the story.... its magical.

I love all music, but movie soundtracks are special. They are meant to take you on an exciting journey or an emotional release.

Here are my top 5 favorites:
Note: I don't necessarily condone the messages of each movie in its entirety, but each soundtrack has beautiful pieces. Asterisked pieces are my top favorite tracks.
Note: I am leaving out some great soundtracks by limiting this to Movies. Maybe that's another post?
Rather not read the whole thing? Check out my playlist on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-oS8PZYxfs&list=PLwnyW875XgDmhGeKF5MpVNwajUjtPx4gm&feature=mh_lolz

5-  The Host
-The string ensemble part of this soundtrack is nothing short of Amazing.
-The song that made me love this soundtrack is "Into the Cave."

4-  X-Men: First Class
              - Soaring string and brass ensembles and epicness throughout.
-Tracks 1(First Class*) and 7 (Cerebro) are especially good.

3-  Percy Jackson (Sea of Monsters)
-This soundtrack is as action packed as the movie.
-The best songs are 1. (Main Titles*), and 15. (Thank You Brother)

2-  Ender's Game
              - This soundtrack is diverse and so beautiful. I fell in love with the solo cello and violin parts first, and then the emotional awesomeness of the whole soundtrack.
              - Tracks 1(Ender's Promise), 5 (The Battle Room*), and 7(Salamander Battle) are my favorites.

1-  How to Train Your Dragon

             - Part of the reason I love this soundtrack is that I love the movie. It's overwhelmingly cute, and incredibly detailed(the animation).
             - It's Celtic feel combined with fast paced strings and booming brass makes it absolutely amazing. :)
             - Track 1 (This is Berk*) sums up all of the songs in one. Track 15 (Romantic Flight) is unique from the rest and very beautiful. Tracks 10 and eleven (See you tomorrow and test drive) are amazing as well!
